Now that three MLB skippers have been canned this season, it’s worth wondering who could be shown the door next. With that in mind, BetMissouri.com – which will have top Missouri sportsbook promo codes when the state’s market goes live – compiled some hypothetical odds on which manager will next Derek Shelton, Bud Black and the latest, Baltimore’s Brandon Hyde, in collecting a buyout check.

Which MLB Manager Is Favored To Go Next?
The leading candidate to get axed next is a man who has been around the Majors for nearly 50 years as a player and coach. Ron Washington of the Los Angeles Angels leads our odds board again at +425 after the Halos went 9-16 in April. The team’s decent 9-8 stretch in May (as of May 19) has not been enough to make up for that start.
For now, Washington and the Angels sit six games back of the first-place Seattle Mariners in the AL West with 116 games to play, which could buy Washington enough time to turn things around, though we’re not riding high on the 73-year-old skipper’s odds right now.
Any wager at Missouri sportsbook apps that had +425 odds would translate to a 19% implied probability.
Other Candidates To Be Ousted Next
Other MLB managers to keep an eye on are Dave Martinez of the Washington Nationals and John Schneider of the Toronto Blue Jays, both of whom are at +500 odds on our board. Rocco Baldelli of the Minnesota Twins (+800), Oliver Marmol of the St. Louis Cardinals and Houston Astros skipper Joe Espada (+1000 each) are next in line.
Martinez has seen his dugout prospects slide since winning a World Series in D.C. in 2019, with six straight seasons below the .500 mark, including this season’s 21-27 start. Schneider went from the high of going 89-73 in 2023 to the abyss, with a 96-112 (.458) record since then.
Baldelli might have saved his job in the Twin Cities by leading the Twins to a 13-4 (.813) mark in May, including a 13-game winning streak, as the club (26-21) has moved within 4.5 games of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central. Minnesota responded after a woeful, 13-18 start.
Marmol has the Cardinals (27-21) well over .500 after starting 14-17 – like Baldelli, that run might have saved Marmol’s job. You can check out St. Louis Cardinals playoff odds with BetMissouri.com throughout the season, though for now you’ll have to hop over to neighboring Illinois to place a legal sports wager.
Espada’s prospects in the Space City hinge on the team’s ability to chase down the Mariners, with Houston sitting at 25-22 (.532) and 2.5 games behind Seatle in the AL West. Yankees manager Aaron Boone (+1100) has New York in first place at 27-19 (.587) in the AL East. But it’s always a pressure cooker in the Big Apple.
For now, we think it won’t be long before a fourth MLB skipper gets shown the door in 2015. The season is fast approaching its midway point and teams are forced to make imminent decisions about the immediate future of their clubs before the dog days of summer.
