Comparing the Numbers and More
Of the many men that have coached in the NFL, only three have more victories than Reid’s total of 273 with the Eagles and Chiefs, in Don Shula (328 wins), George Halas (318 wins) and Bill Belichick (302 wins). When looking at individual postseason success, Reid’s impressive résumé reaches another level, with the 67-year-old ranking second all time, with 28 victories, ranking behind Belichick’s total of 31 wins leaguewide.
Throw in Reid’s six Super Bowl appearances (tied with Shula for second most all time behind Belichick’s nine) and three Super Bowl championships (ranking in a tie with Joe Gibbs and Bill Walsh for third all time, behind Belichick’s six and Chuck Noll’s four) and you have a pretty good snapshot of the type of success that the veteran coach has achieved in his 26-year run as a head coach.
In total, Reid’s 13 points across the four categories counted towards our final leaderboard put him second overall, behind Belichick’s total of 19 points, and ahead of Shula (11 points), Tom Landry (7 points) and the two-way tie between Joe Gibbs and Chuck Noll (6 points each).
Luckily for Reid, there’s still ample time for him to add more victories and titles to his mantle, with the team at DraftKings Sportsbook listing the Chiefs as their No. 4 team, Super Bowl odds wise, at +750, behind the Eagles (+650), Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills (+700 each) and ahead of the Detroit Lions, who stand at +1000 to win the club’s first Super Bowl in 2026.
Based on the preseason win total over/under projections from DraftKings Sportsbook, it seems like Reid could add another dozen or so victories to his total this fall, with the Chiefs holding +100 odds of clearing 11.5 wins this NFL season. But as we all know, it's getting closer to Belichick's 6 Super Bowl wins that will truly close the gap.
Regardless of where Reid goes from here, there’s no denying that the sideline stalwart is among the greatest to ever do it, with the 67-year-old showing he’s still got his fastball in the City of Fountains.
